What is Aetherspark?
Aetherspark is a file browser, storage, and transfer system that runs on the Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. With Aetherspark, you can browse files, send files to other devices, and receive files from other devices. You can also use it to mount your mobile device as a disk from any operating system.

What can I do with Aetherspark?
Aetherspark has 3 primary functions:
-It allows you to see your mobile device as a drive on your computer. It will appear on your computer much in the same way that the C Drive appears in Windows and Macintosh HD appears on Mac OS X. You will be able to read and write files on your mobile device just like you would on a hard drive or thumb drive. The difference with Aetherspark is that you connect to your mobile device wirelessly using a technology called WebDAV.-If you don't have a computer handy, but you want to give files to a friend who also has Aetherspark installed on their mobile device (be it an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch), Aetherspark will allow you to send files between the two mobile devices wirelessly, over either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. There is no configuration necessary, all you have to do is open the app on both devices and they will be able to see each other automatically.
-Finally, Aetherspark allows you to browse, view, and manage files on your mobile device with an intuitive interface designed to take full advantage of your device's Multi-touch interface.
-
What devices does Aetherspark support?
Aetherspark will run on all models of the Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. Inter-device Bluetooth file transfer is supported on all devices except the original iPhone or first-generation iPod Touch. Wi-Fi transfer is supported on all devices.

What is the difference between WebDAV and the Send/Receive screens in Aetherspark?
WebDAV is designed to let you access the files on your mobile device from your computer by either mounting it as a disk (much like the C drive on Windows or Macintosh HD on Mac OS X) or by viewing your files in a web browser (such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari).
The Send/Receive screens are designed for sending files between mobile devices (such as between two iPads, or between an iPad and iPhone). This allows you to transfer files without using a computer as an intermediary.

For instructions on connecting to Aetherspark, please see the How To Connect from Your Computer screen in the Settings menu of Aetherspark.
-
I can't connect to Aetherspark from my computer, what's going on?
There are several possible reasons, but connection problems are typically caused by one of the following problems:
-The IP address you are trying to connect to is invalid. To find the right IP address, look under the How To Connect from Your Computer screen in the Settings menu of Aetherspark.
-The username and password are incorrect. Please note that usernames and passwords are CASE-SENSITIVE. If you have forgotten your username and password, you can change it under the WebDAV Settings screen in the Settings menu of Aetherspark.
-Traffic on port 80 (the default WebDAV port for Aetherspark) is being blocked. To fix this, you typically need to modify the settings on your wireless router to allow traffic to port 80 on devices. This is rare for home routers, but is common in enterprise and educational environments where IT departments will block incoming traffic on port 80 to devices with a public IP address. Version 1.1 of Aetherspark will support changing the default port that Aetherspark runs on and will notify you if there is a problem with the chosen port.

When is the next version of Aetherspark coming out?
The next version of Aetherspark, version 1.1, has already been submitted to Apple for approval and should be released sometime during the week of April 11, 2010.
